Lenten Programs 2026
Contemplative Lent
Centering Prayer and Practice Group
Our Divinity student John Becvar will be leading a contemplative prayer and practice group for the season of Lent where we will explore spiritual practices of contemplative prayer and meditation.
We will also discuss the traditional Lenten practices of the Church including prayer, fasting, abstinence, almsgiving, and reconciliation. Everyone in invited to join the prayer group - both beginner and proficient.
We will meet at St John’s, Richmond on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm starting on Ash Wednesday, February 18, until Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The group will be a lovely exploration of the inner growth and communion with the Lord that can take place during the holy time of Lent.
Lenten Zoom Program:
The Poetry of Lent
In this five-week Lenten program, the words of scripture and the poetry of Mary Oliver will be our guides. Each week, biblical texts and Oliver’s poems illumine each other, pointing toward simple practices that we will help us to deepen our Lenten journey.
Sessions take place via ZOOM on Wednesday mornings, 10:00 AM beginning on February 25 and continuing on Wednesday, March 4, TUESDAY, March 10, then Wednesdays, March 18, 25, and April 1. Participants are welcome to come to any or all of the sessions.
