Colin K. samuels

Colin has chosen to focus most of his life energies in the areas of ecological agriculture and artistic expression.  Having an education in Administrative and Commercial Studies from The University of Western Ontario allows him to follow these pursuits in a commercially viable manner.

Colin is engaged in the business of organic vegetable and flower production, and to a lesser extent, music production.  As an agricultural business, customers may sign up for weekly vegetable deliveries or visit us at a farmers’ market within the city of Ottawa.  Solin is responsible for all planning (crop and field), purchasing and administrative duties.  An important element of marketing is encouraging people to come out to the farm by holding various participatory events - such as ‘planting days’, ‘weeding parties’, and ‘harvest lunches’.  There are consistent challenges with weather and pests which are managed through planning, habitat management, labour and acceptance.

Drawing on his skills as a classically-trained pianist and percussionist, Colin provided accompaniment for Ballet and Contemporary dance classes at The School of Dance, Canterbury High School, and Dance Educators.  A good accompanist is sensitive to the needs of the teacher and supportive to the class as a whole.

Colin has been engaged in music production since 1993.  He is able to take a project from conception to pre-mastering.  Composition, performance, arrangement, recording and mixing are within his realm of capabilities.  Colin studied Classical Music and performed in music genres such as World and Reggae. From 1996-2010 he apprenticed as an Assistant Engineer at Sound of One Studios in Ottawa.

Since 2015 in what has become the Anglican Parish of South Carleton, Colin has been partly responsible for selecting appropriate music and supporting the congregations in the singing of said music during worship services.  Also responsible for providing musical support during funerals, weddings and baptisms, which requires sensitivity.

Colin’s has a website for his music, the link is below. https://manfromjambican.bandcamp.com/music
