Joanne Swift – Licensed Lay Reader
Joanne began attending St. Paul’s Osgoode in 1998 after moving to the community with her husband and young children. She sang in the choir and maintained the websites for both St. Paul’s Osgoode and St. John’s Kars for many years.
After retiring from the Pathology Lab in 2019 following a 35‑year career, Joanne felt called to serve. In 2020 she began volunteering with A Friendly Voice, offering support calls to seniors, and completed Ottawa Pastoral Care Training and the City of Ottawa’s Smart Aging Program.
In 2021 she became the Parish Administrator for the Parish of South Carleton, a role that deepened her desire to study Scripture. She trained as a Lay Reader and was licensed in 2023. She also enrolled in the four‑year Education for Ministry program and, in 2024, began serving as Administrative Assistant for Richmond while preaching monthly in both parishes.
Joanne enjoys leading worship, preaching, and assisting with pastoral care. She feels blessed by the support of Rev. Allan and the parish communities as she follows her calling.
She is grateful for her husband, Dave, her partner of more than 40 years, and loves breeding and showing English Mastiffs, baking, and spending time with her family. She is very proud of her grown children and their thriving lives.
