Happy Thanksgiving! This gorgeous time of year inspires wonder, joy, and gratitude among many of us. Celebrating all good gifts of creation, we can never say thank you enough.
For many people in our community this year, Thanksgiving will evoke mixed emotions, especially for those living in Dunrobin/Kinburn, Calabogie, Arlington Woods, Mont Laurier, Val-des-Bois and north of Otter Lake (Quebec). We keep in our prayers all those suffering from the devastating tornadoes.
Despite the uncertainty of life, Thanksgiving reminds us that faith is an abiding trust that life is a gift. As people of faith, we affirm that God is the gift-giver who values our gratitude. The best way we can thank God for the abundant gifts of creation is to use them responsibly and enjoy them with delight. These gifts are given to all God’s people, so we must also share them generously and justly.
As members of the Parish of South Carleton, we particularly have much for which to be grateful. We are full of gratitude for all parishioners past and present whose gifts of time, talent, and treasure have enhanced the beauty and invigorated the ministries in each of our congregations. Such generosity is still necessary as we practice the good stewardship that enlivens our parish. You will find in this letter a Thanksgiving envelope that may be used for a special contribution to support our ministries and maintain our beautiful properties. I also invite you to consider enrolling in the convenient and helpful Pre-Authorized Giving Program that automatically debits your contribution from your bank account on a monthly basis. Information about this program is available from the treasurer in each congregation.
We invite everyone to a special celebration that marks the first anniversary of the Parish of South Carleton. It is a joint service for all four congregations at Holy Trinity, Metcalfe on Sunday, October 14, at 10:00 AM. Please join us.
Finally, we thank all parishioners who so graciously and generously support our parish. We truly appreciate your fidelity, commitment, and dedication.
May God bless us all with abundant joy.
